50th DITF provides free legal assistance to 1,500 people for a week

DAR ES SALAAM: OVER 1,500 people have received free legal assistance from the Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs since the start of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba.

The ministry disclosed this on Wednesday noting that its pavilion has been providing a wide range of legal services aimed at improving access to justice and increasing public awareness of legal rights.

Elaborating, the ministry stated that the services include legal aid, advice on citizenship and good governance, mediation of family disputes, and guidance on land, inheritance and child maintenance cases.

“The ministry is also handling gender-based violence cases while educating the public on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a faster and less costly way of settling conflicts,| part of the statement read.

Visitors are further receiving information on the management of the country’s natural wealth and resources as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen legal literacy and ensure citizens are better informed about their rights and responsibilities.
