Tanzania tasks TWPF to resolve conflicts between humans and destructive wildlife

DODOMA: THE Board of Trustees of the Tanzania Wildlife Conservation Fund (TWPF) has been directed to focus on finding solutions to conflicts between humans and  destructive wildlife to bring smiles to citizens living near conservation areas.

This was stated in Dodoma  today, June 24, 2026,  by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, when he met and held talks with the board led by its Chairman Prof. Jafar Kadeghesho and members of the board.

In addition, Dr Kijaji has urged the board to seek to prioritize investment in order to have alternative sources of income.

He has suggested that one of the projects that can be given priority includes the construction of a modern international conference hall along with a hotel to capitalize on the opportunity of conference tourism along with other projects.

For his part, the Chairman of the TPWPF Board, Prof Jafari Kideghesho, thanked Dr Kijaji for taking the time to meet with the board and that he would consider his instructions, especially the issue of finding ways to reduce or eliminate the challenge of wild and destructive wildlife to leave a smile on the citizens’ faces as promised by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He added that the board will work diligently and honestly to achieve the fund’s expected goals to strengthen conservation and natural resources as well as conduct research that will solve challenges in the sector.
