MAT calls for improved conditions for investment in health sector

DAR ES SALAAM: THE President of the Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT), Dr Mugisha Nkoronko, has called on the government to continue improving the investment environment in the country’s health sector to enable private investors to make a broader and more meaningful contribution to healthcare service delivery.
Dr Nkoronko made the remarks while presenting a paper at the National Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Forum focused on the health sector.
Highlighting the challenges facing private healthcare providers, he pointed to the high cost of acquiring modern medical equipment, noting that such expenses often place a heavy financial burden on local investors.

He emphasized that investment in the health sector would not achieve its intended impact unless it is matched by substantial investment in human resources. Dr Nkoronko also urged the government and private sector stakeholders to intensify efforts in training, developing, and retaining highly skilled and experienced healthcare professionals.
