Dar es Salaam regional commissioner urges Investors to use registered security firms

DAR ES SALAAM: Albert Chalamila has urged investors and institutions in Tanzania to use officially registered security companies to improve the tracking and investigation of criminal incidents.

Speaking today, May 25, 2026, in Dar es Salaam during discussions on security preparations for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Chalamila said the use of informal or unregistered guards can make it difficult for authorities to quickly identify suspects when crimes occur.

He referred to a recent incident involving the killing of a Chinese national, who was allegedly attacked by individuals believed to be factory guards after accusations that he had fled with 10 million Tanzanian shillings.

Chalamila emphasized that registered security companies make investigations easier and improve accountability whenever criminal incidents happen.

He also called on investors and institutions to follow proper security procedures by working with legally recognized security firms in order to protect both people and property.
