Tanzania braces for high-level Malaysian delegation coming for Education Expo

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA is set to receive a high-level delegation from Malaysia comprising representatives from nine universities, officials from the Malaysian Ministry of Education, and leaders from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) for the upcoming Malaysia Education Expo scheduled for June 1–3, 2026, at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
The 19-member delegation is expected to arrive in Tanzania ahead of the expo to participate in strategic meetings with key education stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), local universities, schools, parents, guardians and students.
The expo, organized in collaboration with Global Education Link (GEL) and Malaysian education stakeholders, aims to expand opportunities for university admissions, scholarships, academic partnerships and strengthen higher education relations between Tanzania and Malaysia.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Global Education Link Executive Director Abdumalik Mollel described the visit as strategic for Tanzania, noting that it brings together top higher education authorities and institutions responsible for international student admissions and visa coordination.
“This is not just a regular admissions exhibition.
It is a national opportunity to connect Tanzania and Malaysia in higher education, scholarships, joint programmes, research, innovation and cooperation agreements between universities of both sides,” said Mollel.
According to Mollel, the delegation will provide first-hand information on academic programmes, tuition costs, learning environments, admission procedures and scholarship opportunities available for Tanzanian students.
Among the institutions expected to participate are Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, University of Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UCSI University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, University Selangor and Putra Business School, while additional institutions are expected to be confirmed through official exhibition guidelines.
Mollel said the expo presents a significant opportunity for Tanzanian students seeking international education in fields such as science, technology, business, health, engineering, information technology, creativity and entrepreneurship.
He added that unlike many education fairs, the mission carries a broader agenda focused on institutional cooperation between Malaysian and Tanzanian universities.
He noted that several Malaysian universities are ready to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Tanzanian institutions to support collaboration in research, student and lecturer exchanges, joint academic programmes, short-term training, technology and innovation.
“Malaysian universities are ready to meet with Tanzanian universities
They are ready to listen to the needs of our universities and see how to build mutually beneficial partnerships. This is a good opportunity for our universities to connect with the international education system,” Mollel said.
The delegation is also expected to hold joint sessions with universities and higher learning institutions in Tanzania, allowing Malaysian universities to present their programmes, objectives in Tanzania and areas of intended cooperation.
On the Tanzanian side, universities and higher education institutions will have the opportunity to present their priorities for collaboration, including “2+2” academic programmes, joint research initiatives, professional training, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Mollel said the exhibition will also benefit the Ministry of Education, TCU, the Samia Suluhu Hassan Scholarship Scheme Committee, schools, parents, guardians and young people by creating direct engagement.
