Tanzania cherishes its partnership with EU in trade, digital transformation, blue economy areas

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Industry and Trade Judith Kapinga has said the European Union has remained a key development partner in strategic areas in the country including human capital development, the green economy, digital transformation, blue economy initiatives, as well as trade and industrial development.

The minister made the statement today, May 8, 2026, in Dar es Salaam noting that Tanzania and the European Union (EU) have strengthened cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development and private sector growth over the past five decades.

Additionally, Ms Kapinga said that Tanzania has continued to benefit from investments under the Global Gateway and Team Europe programmes, particularly in energy, digital systems, ports and transport infrastructure, which have helped expand trade opportunities and improve economic competitiveness.

She also noted that the partnership has also contributed to opening up markets, strengthening value chains and creating more opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), thereby supporting job creation and local economic growth.

Moreover, she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue working closely with the EU to improve the business and investment climate to ensure Tanzanian citizens and the private sector continue benefiting from the cooperation.
