Dr Samia alerts workers on shifting geopolitical dynamics that now threaten the globe

NJOMBE: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has warned that shifting global political and economic dynamics will significantly reshape the future of work, calling on both employers and workers to prepare for the changes ahead.

Speaking during the Workers’ Day celebrations in Njombe region today, May 1, 2026, the President said the world is undergoing major transformations that are already affecting global economies, with developing countries bearing a heavier burden.

She noted that Tanzania, like other developing nations, must remain alert and adaptable in order to withstand external economic pressures.

“Looking at the future of our nation and the direction of global political and economic changes, it is important for both employers and workers to prepare adequately,” she said.

President Samia said ongoing global developments are contributing to economic hardships that first impact governments before extending to other sectors of society.

“There are developments taking place globally that are, in one way or another, affecting the world economy, especially developing countries like ours. Therefore, we must be prepared to cope with the changing situation,” she said.

However, she stressed that the government is continuing to implement measures aimed at protecting citizens from the effects of global economic instability, ensuring that living standards are maintained or improved where possible.

“Despite this, the government continues to make efforts to ensure that our citizens maintain their current standard of living or, if possible, experience improvements, but we are working hard to avoid any decline,” she said.
