Torch race highlights 8.8bn/- projects in Coast Region

COAST REGION: DEVELOPMENT projects worth over 8.8bn/- have been showcased in Coast Region during the ongoing Uhuru Torch race, underlining ongoing efforts to improve social services and infrastructure.
In Kibiti District, eight projects valued at 3.9bn/- were visited, including two inaugurated, three inspected and three where foundation stones were laid.
Among the key projects is a piped water scheme in Mlanzi Village, which is expected to benefit about 6,095 residents upon completion. Kibiti District Commissioner, Colonel Joseph Kolombo, said the projects are aimed at accelerating development and improving the quality of life for wananchi.

The Uhuru Torch Race Leader, Mr Wazo Mwang’onda, commended the government for continued investment in water supply and other essential services. In neighbouring Rufiji District, seven projects worth 4.95bn/- were also reviewed, with three inspected and four launched.
Rufiji District Commissioner, Mr Fredrick Komba, said the projects reflect the government’s commitment to expanding access to basic services and boosting local development.
The Uhuru Torch has been in Coast Region since April 18 and, as of April 26, had covered seven districts and nine councils.
