MOI offers free treatment to 200 children with severe head, spine problems

DAR ES SALAAM: MORE than 200 children with severe head and spine problems will receive free treatment at the Muhimbili Brain and Nervous System Institute (MOI) this year.

The move comes after MOI signed a partnership agreement with Azania Bank, which has pledged to provide  200m/- annually through the MOI Marathon, which is expected to be held on October 25, this year.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam today after signing the agreement, the Director of MOI, Ambassador Dr Mpoki Ulisubisya said the partnership will enable Azania Bank to provide  200/-  annually to cover the treatment of these children.

“Azania Bank has come at the right time as we celebrate 30 years since the establishment of MOI where various activities will be held and concluded with the MOI marathon,” said Dr Mpoki and added that

He added that this agreement will last for three years and will facilitate the treatment of children who, in every 1000 live generations, seven children are born with this problem.

“Many children come to the Institute if they come, there will be money for treatment, this contribution will help, Azania supports what the Mo Dewji Foundation is doing to help these children and children come at different times.

He also advised mothers to use folic acid minerals before pregnancy as it is important to reduce the severity of the problem, and when they use these drugs, they should use them very carefully

For his part, Azania Bank’s Director of Business Development, Yahaya Mbanka said the bank is proud to return part of its profits by supporting the treatment of children with large heads and open backs through the MOI Marathon.

“In this agreement, Azania Bank is going to provide 200m/-  to the MOI Foundation through the MOI marathon to support MOI’s efforts to provide treatment to these children”
