Digital payment revolution aims to boost financial security

DAR ES SALAAM: Bongo Flava artist Abigail Chamungwana, popularly known as Abby Chams, has urged citizens to stop carrying cash and instead embrace card payments to enhance the safety of their money.

Speaking to Daily News during the signing ceremony of her ambassadorship deal with Visa Inc., Abby Chams said the use of cards helps control unnecessary spending while improving financial security.

She noted that people who carry cash often end up spending more impulsively, unlike card users who are able to manage their expenses more carefully and securely.

“To ensure personal and financial safety, it is important to stop carrying cash and instead use Visa cards. This allows you to pay for food, drinks and other services digitally with ease and security,” she said.

In a related development, Kalito’s Way Group (KWG) has introduced a new digital payment system following its partnership with Visa Inc..

The collaboration aims to enhance innovation in the food and entertainment sector by simplifying payment services for customers.

Through this initiative, KWG has rolled out official digital payment solutions across its outlets, including Samaki Samaki, Kuku Kuku and Wavuvi Kempu, all part of its Burudani Kingdom campaign.

The system is designed to improve customer experience by offering a fast, secure and convenient way to make payments while enjoying various services.

Additionally, the partnership will include customer education on card usage and awareness campaigns to promote digital payment services across KWG outlets. Leveraging Visa’s expertise, customers are expected to benefit from modern, efficient and secure payment solutions.

As part of the launch, Visa will participate in the Hello Jua event scheduled to take place at Wavuvi Kempu on Saturday, April 25, 2026,.
