Tanzania commends Safari Field Challenge for elevating its tourism professionals

ARUSHA: THE Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ashatu Kijaji, has commended the Safari Field Challenge for enhancing the professionalism of tour guides and strengthening efforts to promote tourism and conservation in the country.

The minister made the remarks after visiting participants of the initiative at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Ndutu noting that the initiative goes in line with ongoing government efforts under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who has championed Tanzania’s global tourism profile, notably through the film Tanzania dubbed as ‘The Royal Tour’.

“I commend you for this great work. I am informed this is the 11th Safari Field Challenge, congratulations for promoting tourism,” she said.

Additionally, the minister stressed the need for continued innovation in showcasing new attractions to attract more visitors and contribute to national economic growth while urging the team to use its platform to promote emerging tourism products, including a new golf course in the Serengeti and other unique national assets.

Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Hassan Abbas, said the Safari Field Challenge plays a vital role in raising awareness about conservation, particularly among youth and the wider community.

The Safari Field Challenge is widely regarded as a key platform for sharpening skills among tour guides while promoting Tanzania’s rich natural heritage to both local and international audiences.
