Tanzania affirms to work closely with EABC in accelerating regional trade

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has reaffirmed its commitment to closer collaboration with the private sector to accelerate regional trade and investment.
This was agreed in a discussion between Tanzania’s Director of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador John Ulanga with the newly appointed Executive Director of the East African Business Council (EABC), Ahmed Farah in Dar es Salaam.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ulanga congratulated Farah on his appointment and commended the council’s continued role in promoting private sector growth, advancing regional integration and driving intra-East African trade.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation to ensure the private sector receives the necessary support to thrive, noting that stronger collaboration is key to creating a more enabling business environment across the region.

Additionally, they also underscored the importance of expanding market access and strengthening value chains in trade and investment as critical drivers of economic growth within the East African Community.
Headquartered in Arusha, the EABC was established in 1997 as the umbrella body for private sector organisations and companies from the eight member states of the East African Community—Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
The council serves as the official voice of the private sector in the EAC integration process, advocating for a conducive business environment and sustainable development across the region.
