Additionally, the deputy minister said the envisaged cooperation will involve joint agricultural research, exchange of experts and expansion of irrigation schemes, alongside the use of modern machinery to improve efficiency and output.

“These efforts will not only increase productivity but also improve the quality and competitiveness of Tanzanian produce in international markets,” he said.

The Canadian delegation, led by Yasmin Ratansi, expressed readiness to collaborate with Tanzania, highlighting the role of the International Development Research Centre in supporting agricultural research and innovation.

Ratansi underscored the importance of reliable farmer data to enable effective planning and implementation of projects, while also calling for greater farmer participation, stronger cooperative societies, and better utilisation of trade opportunities to boost production and incomes.

The meeting reflects growing momentum in Tanzania’s efforts to leverage international partnerships to transform its agriculture sector and drive sustainable economic growth.
