GST urged to improve work environment

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Minerals has directed the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) to strengthen its internal working environment to enhance productivity, innovation and staff safety.
Speaking during the inauguration of the GST Workers’ Council at the Mining Commission in Dodoma, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals, Eng Yahya Samamba, said a conducive workplace is essential for improved performance and accountability.
He said the institution must position itself as a reliable source of high-quality geoscientific data accessible to stakeholders, noting its importance for the growth of the mining sector.
“It is the responsibility of every employee to perform their duties professionally and contribute to the institution’s success,” he said.
Eng Samamba also emphasised the importance of unity, teamwork and cooperation among staff to enhance efficiency and uphold public service integrity.
He congratulated newly elected council leaders, noting that the Workers’ Council plays a vital advisory role in organisational performance, development planning and employee welfare.
The council is mandated to review revenue and expenditure plans, guide development strategies and strengthen collaboration between staff and management.
GST Chief Executive Officer, Eng Ally Samaje, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to improving operations and contributing to the country’s mineral sector.
He said GST will continue strengthening geoscientific and laboratory services while embracing technological advancements to support national economic growth.
