Dr Samia eulogizes Wasukuma tribal leader, Chief Isale

DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Charles Itale, a respected traditional leader of the Wasukuma community, who passed away on April 6 in Mwanza Region.
In a statement issued by the Director of Presidential Communication, Shaaban Kisu, today, April 11, 2026, the President described the late Chief Itale as a pillar of cultural leadership who played a significant role in preserving traditions and promoting unity within society.

Additionally, the Head of State that the late chief will be remembered for his commitment to safeguarding customs, fostering peace and enhancing social cohesion through traditional institutions while extending her condolences to the bereaved family, the Sukuma community, members of the Council of Traditional Leaders, and residents of Mwanza Region at large.
Chief Itale served as the traditional leader of Bujashi in Magu District and was also the Chairperson of the Sukuma Council of Chiefs.
He was among the founding members of the Tanzania Council of Traditional Leaders, where he contributed to strengthening indigenous governance systems.
