Tanzania’s Gen Z Corporation signs technological deal with Russia’s Innopraktika

DAR ES SALAAM: THE  Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has witnessed the signing of a key technology cooperation agreement between Russia’s Innopraktika and Tanzania’s Gen Z Corporation Limited, in a move aimed at accelerating innovation and economic growth.

Speaking after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Dar es Salaam, Minister Kombo said that the partnership reflects renewed commitment between Tanzania and Russia to strengthen ties in modern technology as part of advancing economic diplomacy.

According to the minister, the agreement comes at a strategic time as Tanzania implements its new Foreign Policy, which prioritises economic diplomacy and positions technology and innovation as key drivers of sustainable development.

“Modern technology is critical in reducing poverty, improving access to education, expanding markets, and enhancing financial services across sectors, particularly agriculture,” he said.

Additionally, the minister welcomed proposals by the Russian firms to establish a technology hub in Tanzania, saying the initiative aligns with the country’s ambition to become a regional ICT centre.

Speaking earlier, Innopraktika Chief Executive Officer, Alexander Likhanov, said the agreement will focus on deploying advanced technologies to improve efficiency in sectors such as agriculture, mining, transport, communications, and natural resources.

The event brought together experts from the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), officials from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and representatives of the participating companies.
