Finance Minister calls on ATIDI to enhance ties with the Tanzanian government

DODOMA: FINANCE Minister Khamis Mussa Omar has called on the African Trade and Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI) to strengthen its collaboration with the Tanzanian government in advancing private sector development to support the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050.
He made the call during a meeting with an ATIDI delegation led by the institution’s Board Chairperson, Kelly Kingsly, held at the Ministry of Finance offices at Treasury Square in Dodoma.
Omar noted that under the Development Vision 2050, the private sector is expected to contribute 70 percent of economic growth, while the public sector will account for 30 percent. He emphasized the need to create an enabling environment that allows the private sector to effectively deliver on this target.
He explained that implementation of the vision goes hand in hand with ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate. He added that Tanzania’s President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, established a special commission that proposed reforms to the country’s tax system, with recommendations already submitted for further action.
