Tanzania, SA agree to broaden ties in education, science, technological innovation
CAPE TOWN: TANZANIA and South Africa have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, science, technology and innovation following bilateral talks held in Cape Town.
The agreement was reached in a discussion between Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, South Africa’s Deputy Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Nomalungelo Gina, and South Africa’s Deputy Minister for Basic Education, Makgabo Reginah Mhaule.
During the talks, both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in research, promote exchange programmes for students and researchers, and strengthen partnerships between universities and research institutions.

Moreover, in their discussions, South Africa also reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting 16 Tanzanian students studying at the University of Johannesburg under the Samia Scholarship Extended programme.
On basic education, Dr Mhaule said cooperation between the two countries has continued to yield positive results, particularly in strengthening the teaching of Kiswahili, curriculum innovation and teacher development in South Africa.
