Call for JPM commemoration to cement patriotism, solidarity, accountability

CHATO: THE Bishop of the Bunda Catholic Diocese, Simon Masondole, has emphasized that commemorations marking the death of former Fifth Phase President, John Magufuli, should serve as an opportunity for society to learn patriotism and accountability in nation-building.
Speaking on March 17, 2026, at the JS Grounds located at Magufuli’s home in Chato, during a mass marking the fifth anniversary of his death, Bishop Masondole stated that God uplifts those who live righteously and perform good deeds.
In his address, he noted that in addition to praying for the late Magufuli, it is important to remember other leaders who made significant contributions to the nation. He mentioned founding figures and prominent leaders such as Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Abeid Amani Karume, Ali Hassan Mwinyi, and Benjamin William Mkapa, stressing that they all deserve to be honoured and prayed for in recognition of their service to the country.
