Tanzania, SA meet to fast-track draft of agreement in key areas of cooperation

PRETORIA: TANZANIA and South Africa have agreed to fast-track the finalization of draft agreements in key areas of cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agreement was reached during talks between Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Ngwaru Maghembe and South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Thandi Moraka on the sidelines of the Southern African Development Community Council of Ministers meeting in Pretoria on March 13, 2026.
The discussions of the two leaders focused on ways to further strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between Tanzania and South Africa, nations that share longstanding historical ties.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister for Finance Laurent Luswetula and Tanzania’s Ambassador to South Africa James Bwana.
Speaking during the talks, Dr Maghembe commended South Africa for successfully hosting the G20 Summit 2025 and for the well-organised two-day SADC Council of Ministers meeting held from March 12 to 13, 2026.
