Tanzanian students in India urged to use their knowledge to develop their nation

NEW DELHI: TANZANIA’S Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe, has met with Tanzanian students studying at various universities in India in a meeting aimed at listening to their views, discussing challenges they face, and encouraging them to contribute to the country’s development.

The meeting took place at the Tanzanian Embassy offices in New Delhi, where Dr Maghembe urged the students to fully utilize the educational opportunities available to them in India.

He encouraged them to study diligently and acquire modern skills that will contribute to Tanzania’s development after completing their studies.

He noted that the government recognizes the importance of young people studying abroad in bringing new knowledge, technology, and innovation that can help accelerate the country’s economic and social development.

Speaking about the situation in Tanzania, Dr Maghembe said the country remains politically, economically, and socially stable, with citizens continuing their daily activities of nation-building as usual.

He also emphasized that the government continues to prioritize youth, who represent the country’s workforce. He added that a dedicated ministry responsible for youth affairs has already been established under the Office of the President, with the aim of strengthening youth development and participation in the national economy.

During the meeting, Dr Maghembe also encouraged the students to continue serving as good ambassadors of Tanzania in India by upholding good conduct, respecting the laws of the host country, and maintaining unity among themselves.

Earlier, while welcoming the Deputy Minister, Tanzania’s Ambassador to India, Anisa Mbega, commended the students for their cooperation with the embassy and for maintaining Tanzania’s reputation for unity and solidarity.

On their part, the students represented by the President of their association, TANSIN, Jumbe Juma Kawanza, thanked the Deputy Minister for taking the time to meet them. They said the meeting had motivated them and made them feel part of Tanzania’s development efforts even while studying abroad. They also pledged to work hard in their studies to contribute positively to the nation in the future.
