Tanzania affirms strong ties with members of the Commonwealth

LONDON: THE Tanzanian government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with members of the Commonwealth in areas of good governance, democracy, and shared development.

This was revealed today in London when the Tanzanian Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Duties), Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Shirley Botchwey.

During the talks, Prof Kabudi said  Tanzania continues to value the role and contribution of the Commonwealth in promoting international cooperation and strengthening democratic institutions among member states.

For her part, Botchwey commended Tanzania for its active participation in the organization’s activities and reaffirmed the Commonwealth’s commitment to deepening collaboration with member states to advance development and good governance.

The discussions took place in London, where Prof Kabudi is on an official visit to attend several Commonwealth meetings involving its 56 member countries.

During the visit, Prof Kabudi is expected to participate in the 72nd Meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) scheduled for March 7, 2026, as well as the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting set to take place on March 8, 2026.
