DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has stepped up preparations to maximise opportunities linked to the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma (pictured), holding strategic discussions with stakeholders from the sports and entertainment sectors in Dar es Salaam.
The meetings, early this week, at the Liberation Heritage Centre, brought together key players from the sports and entertainment industries to explore the wide range of opportunities expected ahead of the prestigious continental football tournament.
Tanzania is set to co-host the AFCON 2027, and the discussions focused on how local stakeholders can actively participate in and benefit from the economic and social impact associated with hosting one of Africa’s biggest sporting events.
Speaking during the engagements, Mwinjuma reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a supportive environment that enables local stakeholders to play a meaningful role in success of the tournament.
He noted that the competition represents more than just football, describing it as a major platform for growth in sports business, entertainment, tourism and cultural promotion.
