Relief as TSN’s printing plant construction nears completion

DAR ES SALAAM: THE construction of a printing factory building at the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) is progressing steadily, with the building works reaching 71.2 percent completion, while the installation and delivery of machinery has reached 85.6 percent.

The update was provided on March 5, 2026, in Dar es Salaam by the Managing Director of Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN), Asha Dachi, during an inspection visit by the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, who toured the site to assess the progress of the project.

Dachi stated that the project is expected to become an additional revenue-generating investment for the company while also improving operational efficiency. She explained that once completed, the facility will enable TSN to print its own newspapers and expand commercial printing services for public institutions, private stakeholders, and government agencies.

Speaking after the site visit, Deputy Minister Mwinjuma said the purpose of the inspection was to evaluate the project’s progress and review ongoing implementation plans. He noted that if the current pace is maintained and implementation continues as planned, the building is expected to be completed within the next three months.

“Another purpose of this visit is to prepare ahead of the inspection by the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Culture and Sports, which is expected to review various activities carried out by TSN. As the Deputy Minister responsible for supervising this institution, it is important for me to have a clear understanding of the progress of this project,” Mwinjuma said.
