Tanzania pledges to restore business stalls at Mabibo market

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has pledged to solve the pressing challenges facing traders at the Mabibo market in Dar es Salaam, including regaining access to the market after being barred by market management.

The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Local Government (PO-RALG), Prof Riziki Shemdoe, pledged when he met with the traders to discuss solutions to the ongoing conflict at the market.

Additionally, the minister pledged to restore their business stalls and return market oversight to the Mabibo traders, noting that he would handle their requests within two weeks.

Moreover, he assured them of another meeting once solutions are in place.

Additionally, he appointed a special committee to manage the matter under the leadership of the Deputy Permanent Secretary in charge of Infrastructure, Engineer Rogatus Mativila.

Shemdoe’s actions follow directives from the Prime Minister of Mwigulu Nchemba, after the traders submitted their concerns to him.
