Tanzania enhances procurement officers’ capacity in implementing supply chain strategies

MOROGORO: THE Ministry of Finance has organized a short-term training program for Government Procurement and Supply Officers aimed at strengthening professional knowledge and capacity in implementing sustainable supply chain strategies.
The training was coordinated by the Public Procurement Policy Department, led by Acting Commissioner Alex Haraba, and delivered by experts from the University of Dar es Salaam and Mzumbe University. The sessions took place at the Dar to Dom conference hall in Morogoro Region, starting on March 2 and are scheduled to conclude on March 5, 2025.
The training aims to equip Procurement and Supply Officers with modern approaches and strategies that support the implementation of a sustainable supply chain. This aligns with the provisions of Sections 5(2)(b) and 5(3)(c) of the Public Procurement Act, Cap. 410, which directs that all public procurement, supply, and asset disposal activities adhere to sustainability principles.

The program brought together officers from the regions of Kagera, Katavi, Kigoma, Ruvuma, Mbeya, Iringa, and Dar es Salaam, providing them with guidance and contemporary methods to enhance efficiency, accountability, and effectiveness within the public procurement sector.
