Kariakoo Market sets strategies to control fire incidents

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Kariakoo Market Corporation  has set strategies to ensure they control fire emergencies in their areas, including strengthening firefighting and rescue operations.

The Corporation has provided the Ilala Regional Fire and Rescue Service with a special office and a parking area for their vehicles, for their activities to reduce inconvenience to residents of those areas when fire disasters occur.

This was stated by the General Manager of the Kariakoo Market Corporation  Ashraph Abdulkarim, when he met with the leadership of the Ilala Regional Fire and Rescue Service with the aim of discussing various areas of cooperation between the two institutions.

Abdulkarim added that the cooperation between the institutions is important because it will enable the Kariakoo Market and the community surrounding the market to be safe, and to do business without any worries and continue to contribute to the national economy.

For his part, the Ilala Regional Fire and Rescue Service Commander, SACP Peter Mabusi said the Force will collaborate with the Kariakoo Marketing Corporation by providing education to traders and employees of the organization, conducting inspections of fire extinguishing systems to enable them to deal with disasters as they arise.

It should be noted that the Kariakoo Marketing Corporation has been donating water from existing wells at the Kariakoo Market, where it has so far provided more than 134,800 liters of water which have been used to control fire accidents in Kariakoo areas for the period from September 2025 to date.
