Tanzania artists to brighten La Diva’s Environmental Conservation campaign

MORONI: COMOROS’ musician Samra Athouman La Diva said here that plans are underway to invite Tanzanian musicians in a joint event aimed to promoter environmental conservation in the Indian Ocean Isles.
The Tanzanian Ambassador to the Union of the Comoros, Saidi Yakubu, met with renowned Comorian musician Samra Athoumani, popularly known as La Diva, after she paid a courtesy visit to the Tanzanian Embassy to discuss cooperation in promoting environmental conservation.
During the meeting, La Diva informed Ambassador Yakubu that her organization, Twamaya, is planning to organize a major fundraising event aimed at strengthening the fund for the implementation of various environmental conservation activities in Comoros.
She said the event is expected to bring together various stakeholders, including institutions and participants from Tanzania, to enhance the effectiveness of environmental protection campaigns.

Furthermore, La Diva expressed her commitment to advancing regional cooperation on environmental issues, emphasizing that the contribution of Tanzanian stakeholders would be highly beneficial in achieving the objectives of the Twamaya organization.
In the course of the discussions, La Diva also recalled that she was among the first artists outside Tanzania to compose songs congratulating the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, shortly after she assumed office in 2021—an act she described as a symbol of her affection and solidarity with Tanzania.
For his part, Ambassador Yakubu commended La Diva for using art as a powerful and influential tool to raise public awareness on development issues, particularly environmental conservation. He pledged to follow up on the proposed cooperation by engaging relevant stakeholders from Tanzania, with a view to supporting the efforts of the Twamaya organization and strengthening social and environmental cooperation between Tanzania and Comoros.
