Mount Meru embraces online medical services

ARUSHA: MOUNT Meru Hospital has officially begun using a digital online booking system that allows citizens to schedule appointments with doctors from home, pay for services in advance, and arrive at the hospital at their assigned time without going through unnecessary queues.

Mount Meru is Arusha’s Regional Referral Hospital.

Speaking today, January 26, 2026, during the launch of the Digital Talk, the hospital’s Medical Officer In-Charge, Dr Alex Ernest said the system is part of efforts to improve healthcare service delivery and reduce congestion at the facility.

Dr Alex added that in addition to the online appointment system, the hospital has also introduced a special application that enables patients to book appointments with doctors and access visual consultation services, a move aimed at improving access to healthcare and reducing the need for frequent hospital visits.

“To reduce unnecessary congestion and comply with government directives, the hospital has introduced an online booking system that allows citizens to book appointments with doctors from home, pay for services, and come directly to see the doctor. We have also introduced an application that enables appointment booking and visual consultation,” said Dr. Alex.

The launch was officiated by the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa, and aims to strengthen public participation in healthcare service delivery through the use of digital systems.

The system is expected to enhance service efficiency, reduce patient waiting times, and improve communication between citizens and healthcare providers.
