Tanzania launches e-Utatuzi, a digital system for mediation and arbitration cases

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has today, January 21, 2026, officially launched the Electronic System for the Management of Mediation and Arbitration Cases (e-Utatuzi) in the country.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held in Dar es Salaam, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Deus Sangu, said the system will not only enhance efficiency in the delivery of justice but also save time in handling labour dispute cases by ensuring timely resolution.

Elaborating, he said that he explained that the e-Utatuzi system has five main components, which are user registration for case filing, registration of labour disputes and essential services.

Other components are a module for registering minor applications and a reporting module.

Additionally, he said that the system is also integrated with other government systems, including the National Identification Authority (NIDA) and the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA).

Minister Sangu further directed the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA), which oversees the system, to ensure it has full capacity to effectively use the platform.

He also instructed the Commission to utilize various platforms, including the media, to conduct continuous public awareness and training programmes on how to use the system.
