Govt communicators officers gain AI application skills

MOROGORO: THE Tanzania Government Communication Officers Association (TAGCO) has continued to strengthen the professional capacity of government communication officers by providing specialised training, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), to ensure they work in line with rapid technological changes.
The ongoing training, being conducted in Morogoro Region, is focused on enhancing creativity, efficiency and innovation in public communication work, while equipping officers with modern tools relevant to the evolving digital landscape.
Speaking during the training, the Strategic Communications Adviser, Ms Annastazia Rugaba, commended TAGCO for organising the programme, describing it as a timely and important initiative that will significantly improve professionalism and creativity among government communication officers.
“I would like to congratulate the Tanzania Government Communication Officers Association (TAGCO) for organising this training, which I strongly believe will bring meaningful change to the public communication sector,” Ms Rugaba said.
She noted that communication as a profession is highly dependent on technology, making it essential for practitioners to continuously update their skills and remain relevant and effective.
“From a technological perspective, I expect to see positive transformation because public communication relies heavily on technology. It is therefore crucial for communication officers to learn and adapt to these changes so they can build strong institutional communication cultures, both internally and externally,” she stressed.
Ms Rugaba added that embracing AI and other digital tools would enable communication officers to deliver accurate, timely and engaging information to the public, while also improving coordination within government institutions.

He explained that AI technology helps to simplify tasks, improve productivity and speed up service delivery, making it a valuable tool for communication professionals.
Mr Mazigo also called on leaders of other institutions to continue supporting communication officers by allowing them to participate in similar capacitybuilding programmes when opportunities arise.
“I encourage leaders of other institutions to support their communication officers so that when such trainings are announced, they are given the opportunity to participate and benefit,” he added.
