Tourism Ministry wins Presidential accolades for global excellence

DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has commended the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism for the great and commendable work it continues to do in promoting, developing, and marketing the tourism and conservation sector in the country.

The praise follows major achievements in the tourism sector, which have enabled Tanzania to win several international awards presented by the World Travel Awards (WTA), an institution headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

Dr Samia delivered the remarks today, January 10, 2025, during a ceremony held to congratulate national team athletes (Taifa Stars) for their strong performance in various international competitions and for positively promoting the nation. The event took place at State House in Dar es Salaam.

Among the awards received are Tanzania being named the leading tourism destination in Africa and globally, Serengeti National Park being recognized as the best national park in Africa, and Zanzibar being acknowledged as the leading destination for international conferences.

President Samia emphasized that these major achievements are a result of the peace and stability prevailing in the country, and she called on Tanzanians to continue safeguarding and preserving that peace so that the nation may continue to earn greater respect and achieve more success internationally.
