Samia: It’s goodwill to children in care centres

DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has extended goodwill to children living in various care centres across the country, aiming to provide comfort, love and joy during the festive season.

The donations were handed over on her behalf by the Assistant Commissioner for Social Welfare in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Mr Mussa Mkamate, representing the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr John Jingu.

Speaking during the handover in Dodoma, Mr Mkamate said President Samia has donated the items to ensure children living in care centres celebrate the end-of-year festivities in happiness and dignity. “I am pleased to hand over these gifts, including rice, beans, sugar, soft drinks and goats, which have been donated by the Head of State to wish these children well and enable them to celebrate the beginning of the New Year,” Mr Mkamate said.

He stressed that the society bears a collective responsibility to nurture and protect children by ensuring their basic needs are met and fostering peace and love within families, noting that domestic conflicts continue to be a leading cause of child abandonment.

Meanwhile, Kijiji cha Matumaini Centre Manager, Mr Vicent Bosseli expressed gratitude to President Samia, conveyed through the Ministry and the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office, stating that the support would bring joy to the children as they celebrate the New Year festivities.
