Arusha’s stadium for the 2027 AFCON nears completion

ARUSHA: THE Arusha Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla, has inspected the progress of the construction of a stadium being built for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), stating that the project has reached more than 70 percent completion.
Makalla said the government does not owe the contractor implementing the project, explaining that out of the 340bn/-allocated for the stadium’s construction, more than 200bn/- has already been paid. This has enabled the contractor to continue with the work without any pending payment claims for work completed so far.
He noted that this situation reflects the strong commitment of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensuring that Tanzania successfully hosts the AFCON 2027 tournament.
Makalla said the President has been closely overseeing the implementation of the project and has emphasized timely payment to the contractor so that the construction is completed on schedule and according to the required standards.

These opportunities include trade, tourism, and the provision of social services such as accommodation, food, and transportation.
He also took the opportunity to congratulate Tanzania’s national football team, Taifa Stars, for qualifying for the round of 16 in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Morocco.
