Police rubbish hoax protests as Tanzania marks 64 years of independence

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian Police Force has assured citizens that the security situation across all parts of the country remains stable and firmly united as it marks its 64 years of independence today.
In a statement released today, December 9, 2025, the Police Force urged the public to ignore circulating video and photo images on social media claiming that protests have begun in some areas of the country.
“The security and defense organs continue to strengthen security nationwide while safeguarding the lives and property of the people.
The Police Force would like to urge citizens to continue ignoring the video and photo images being shared on social media claiming that protests have started,” the statement said.

The statement clarified that the images being circulated are from past events, including incidents from October 29, 30, and 31 of 2025, as well as others from June 2025.
Additionally, the Police Force has called on citizens to continue adhering to the laws and regulations put in place for the benefit of the nation.
