Tanzania commits to the safety of its airspace as it marks Aviation Day

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has commemorated the International Civil Aviation Day (ICAD) 2025 in a ceremony held at the Authority’s Headquarters in Banana, Ukonga, Dar es Salaam.
During the event, Acting Director General of TCAA, Engineer Furaha Sanga, said ICAD is observed to recognize the contribution of the aviation sector to global development, including in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, communication, and safety.
As part of the celebration, the flag of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) was hoisted to mark the significance of the day.
TCAA emphasised that raising public awareness about the aviation sector remains one of its key objectives, and the Authority has continued to disseminate educational information through various media platforms.

The awareness campaign focuses on TCAA’s regulatory responsibilities, proper use of drones, passengers’ rights, career opportunities in aviation, and the services offered by the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC).
The celebration was also conducted across all 15 TCAA stations in the country, where various activities took place, including public education sessions, stakeholder engagements, and visits to centres supporting children living in vulnerable conditions.

TCAA said it will continue improving its systems, services, and supervisory functions in the aviation sector in line with international standards, including strengthening safety indicators such as USOAP and SASO issued by ICAO. Additionally, stakeholders from various sectors—including airlines, government institutions, pilots, and engineers—were acknowledged as key partners supporting TCAA in maintaining the safety of Tanzania’s airspace.
The 2025 ICAD celebration was held under the theme: “Safe Skies & Sustainable Future for All,” which aims to highlight the importance of enhancing safety and promoting sustainable growth in the aviation sector for the benefit of current and future generations.
