Energy Ministry trains staff on how to implement the clean energy campaign

DODOMA: IN efforts to strengthen the implementation of the National Strategy for the Use of Clean Cooking Energy, the Ministry of Energy, through its Clean Cooking Energy Unit, has provided training to 133 staff members from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Presenting the report on the National Strategy for the Use of Clean Cooking Energy, Engineer Anitha Ringia from the Ministry of Energy explained that the training aims to enhance understanding of the benefits of clean energy, including reducing health and environmental impacts caused by the use of firewood and charcoal for cooking.

She emphasized to the staff that the use of clean energy is part of the national agenda to protect the environment and improve citizens’ well-being.

“These trainings demonstrate the government’s commitment to ensuring that public institutions become role models in the use of clean cooking energy. Through you, the public servants, awareness will be raised nationwide, ultimately reducing dependence on environmentally unfriendly fuels,” said Ringia.

She added that the Government will continue collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure clean energy is readily accessible and benefits all Tanzanians, to ensure that by 2034, 80p[er percent of Tanzanians use clean cooking energy.

Through the training, Eng. Ringia also urged all public servants to take the lead in educating communities about the importance of clean cooking energy, encouraging them to use the knowledge gained to become ambassadors in their workplaces and communities.

For her part, Acting Head of Government Communications in the Ministry of Energy, Neema Mbuja, stated that the 2024 National Strategy for the Use of Clean Cooking Energy led to the development of the National Clean Cooking Energy Communication Strategy.

It aims to increase public and institutional awareness about the importance of using clean cooking energy, to achieve national goals that ensure citizens cook using clean, safe, and environmentally friendly energy.
