Tanzania launches exhibition to honour founders of TAZARA

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, has launched a special exhibition on the History of the Tanzania–Zambia Railway (TAZARA) at the National Museum and House of Culture in Dar es Salaam, aimed at educating current and future generations about the visionary leadership of Tanzania’s founding fathers.

Speaking during the launch of the two-month exhibition, Dr. Kijaji said the showcase serves as a living classroom for generations to learn about its contribution to development and the region’s economic liberation.

She noted that TAZARA, constructed in 1970 through cooperation with the Government of China, stands as an important symbol of solidarity between Africa and China and remains one of the most successful infrastructure projects for transporting people and goods between Tanzania, Zambia, and China.

“These are the fruits of our founders, whose legacy we have inherited. We are now preserving and advancing it under the custodian of our heritage, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan,” said Dr. Kijaji.
