PM Nchemba assesses efforts to restore DART services

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has begun the process to restore the Dar es Salaam Rapid Bus services for the Kimara route.

Speaking after receiving the delegation, the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, said that a comprehensive and urgent assessment is underway to ensure that BRT services are restored promptly and continue to serve the public as usual.

Makalla, who accompanied Prime Minister, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, conducted an inspection tour of Bus Rapid Transit stations, starting from the Kimara area along Morogoro Road in Dar es Salaam.

The tour was carried out today, November 24, 2025, with Dr. Nchemba accompanied by several government leaders, including the Minister of Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga; the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo; the Minister of Home Affairs, George Simbachawene; the Minister of Construction, Abdallah Ulega; the Deputy Minister for Transport, David Kihenzile; and the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila.

The inspection follows violent incidents that occurred during the election held on October 29, 2025, which resulted in the destruction of BRT infrastructure, including buses and stations in various parts of the city.
