TGU congratulates newly appointed MDF leaders

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Chairman, Gilman Kasiga, has extended heartfelt congratulations to General George Jafu on his appointment as Commander of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and to Lieutenant General Kondwani Kalino on his elevation to Deputy Chief of Defence of the MDF.
Kasiga said that the recent appointments reflect “well-deserved recognition of leadership and service,” noting that the values of commitment, discipline and excellence demonstrated by both officers “shine both on and off the golf course, inspiring the golfing community across our region.”
He further offered the union’s best wishes as the two leaders take up their new responsibilities, expressing confidence that the friendship and partnership nurtured through golf will continue to grow.
Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) President, Queen Siraki, also conveyed her warm wishes.
“Congratulations, Jafu and Kalino. May this new position bring you greater opportunities to serve with honour and make an even greater impact.”

Representing the General’s Team at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam, Edmund Mndolwa sent his compliments as well.
“Kalino, congratulations on your promotion to 3-Star General. Kudos from the General’s Team here! We hope to rendezvous on the golf course, here or in Lilongwe, very soon,” he said.
Mndolwa added that Lugalo golfers were delighted by the news, recalling that both officers had been active club members during their years in Tanzania before returning to Malawi.
“The General’s Team in particular remembers you every day we play because on the 18th hole, there is a shot called the ‘Gen Kalino Shot.’ We’ll explain and remind you of it when we meet next,” he added.
