Mara Region sets new gold production record with 67.41 tonnes

MARA: MARA Region has set a new record in mineral production after producing 67.41 tonnes of gold, valued at 8.881tri/- over four years from 2021 to October 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the Mara Regional Resident Mining Officer, Environmental Officer. Byalugaba Chakupewa stated that the sales of this gold have contributed over 605.86bn/- to government revenue through royalties, inspection fees, and various levies.

Additionally, Chakupewa noted that the government, through the Mara Regional Mining Commission, collected revenues of 78.7bn/- in the first quarter of the year, equivalent to 37.48 percent of the annual target of 210.3bn/-.
According to him, the office has also issued 2,478 mining activity licenses, a move that has helped increase employment, stimulate investment, and strengthen council revenues.

He emphasized that these achievements are the result of effective sector management and a favourable investment environment established by the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which has ensured that Mara Region continues to be among the leading mineral-producing regions in the country
