Tanzania meets Oman, US, Australia envoys to explore investment in carbon trading sector

BELEM, BRAZIL: The Office of the Vice President (OVP) of Tanzania has held bilateral meetings with delegations from Oman, the United States, and Australia as part of Tanzania’s ongoing engagement in the international climate change conference, COP30.
The meetings took place at the Tanzania Pavilion Conference Hall in Belem, Brazil, and were led by the Director of Environment from the OVP, Kemilembe Mutasa.
She was accompanied by the Director of Legal Services from the National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC), Risper Koyi, along with several experts from the Vice President’s Office.

The main objective of these meetings was to strengthen investment in Tanzania’s carbon trading sector, particularly in projects implementing Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, including the Joint Cooperation Mechanism (JCM).
Other issues discussed included improving systems and infrastructure that will facilitate the establishment and implementation of carbon trading projects, as well as exploring best practices to enhance cooperation between Tanzania and the three countries.

The meetings demonstrated Tanzania’s commitment to promoting investment and international collaboration to address climate change challenges through opportunities in carbon trading.
