Tanzania joins Angola to mark its 50th independence anniversary

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Said Shaib Mussa, joined various government leaders, ambassadors, and representatives of international organizations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Angola in Dar es Salaam.
The event aimed to recognize Angola’s developmental journey since gaining independence on November 11, 1975, while also strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between Angola and Tanzania.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Mussa commended Angola for its significant political, social, and economic achievements over the half-century of independence. He noted that the stable leadership of Angola’s leaders, including President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, has enabled the nation to take steps toward sustainable development.
Ambassador Mussa highlighted that since the establishment of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) in 1981, Tanzania and Angola have continued to strengthen relations across various sectors, including trade, energy, education, health, tourism, and defense. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to increase trade and investment between the two countries.

He stated that Tanzania values the brotherly relationship it shares with Angola and will continue to cooperate closely with Angola to strengthen diplomacy, trade, and economic collaboration for the benefit of citizens in both countries.
Ambassador Mussa also recalled the contributions of Tanzania and Angola’s founding leaders, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere and the late Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in Africa’s liberation movements, which left a significant legacy of solidarity, unity, and respect among African nations.
Meanwhile, Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Tanzania, Ms. Julcimara Joaquim, expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian government for its consistent and ongoing cooperation, noting that it has greatly contributed to Angola’s national development and strengthened Tanzania’s position as a key partner in regional development and cooperation.
