TTCL accelerates nationwide broadband expansion

DAR ES SALAAM: TTCL Corporation is fasttracking its broadband rollout as a strategic component of a nationwide infrastructure expansion, aiming to improve digital connectivity across homes, businesses and government institutions, thereby supporting Tanzania’s broader economic and digital transformation goals.

The ‘Faiba Mlangoni Kwako’ project leverages advanced Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology to provide high-speed fibre connectivity directly to end-users, representing a critical advancement in the country’s digital infrastructure that enhances access, reliability and supports the country’s push toward a more connected and competitive economy.

According to TTCL’s Director of Legal Services, Ms Anita Moshi, the broadband initiative is a key element of the company’s long-term strategy to support the government’s vision of a fully connected nation. “Our mission aligns with the National Digital Strategy by empowering individuals, enterprises and the public sector to communicate and access vital data essential for innovation, economic growth and efficient service delivery,” she stated during the launch of the 2025 Customer Service Week celebrations in Dar es Salaam.

TTCL is currently expanding its fibre network across strategic areas in Dar es Salaam, including Kimara, Magomeni, Kawe, Kariakoo, Kigamboni and Mbezi, while similar deployments are progressing in major cities such as Zanzibar, Mwanza, Dodoma, Arusha, Mbeya and Iringa.

“This advanced technology enables us to deliver reliable, high-speed internet that meets international standards. Our priority is to ensure seamless connectivity that enhances both personal and professional experiences for our customers,” Ms Moshi emphasised.

As Tanzania’s oldest and state-owned telecommunications provider, TTCL continues to invest significantly in modern infrastructure to reinforce its leadership role in regional connectivity and digital innovation.

“Customer trust drives our commitment to modernisation and expansion. It fuels our ambition to transform possibilities into realities,” Ms Moshi added.
