TAMISEMI commends the contractor for a timely completion of the 1.499bn/- road project

RUFIJI: The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (OR-TAMISEMI), responsible for Infrastructure, Engineer Rogatus Mativila, has visited and inspected the ongoing construction of the Chumbi–Kiegele road, which stretches 1.2 kilometers and is being built to bitumen standard in Rufiji District, Coast Region. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of the project implementation.

The road is being constructed under the supervision of the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) as part of the government’s broader efforts to improve transport infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

Speaking after the inspection, Engineer Mativila commended the contractor, RAPCO CONSTRUCTION, for completing the work on time and meeting the required standards.

“The contractor RAPCO CONSTRUCTION has done a commendable job and completed the work on time. I’m truly satisfied with the implementation of this project. I encourage the contractor to maintain this level of quality and timeliness in other projects under OR-TAMISEMI through TARURA,” said Mativila.

He further emphasized that the government will continue to closely monitor infrastructure projects to ensure value for money is realized and visible to the citizens. He also called on contractors nationwide to work professionally, uphold quality standards, and adhere to project timelines.

On his part, TARURA Coast Regional Manager, Engineer Ibrahim Kibasa, reported that the road construction project has cost 1.499bn/- and is 95 percent complete. He noted that the project also includes the installation of stormwater drainage systems and 18 streetlights.

“The contractor has done a great job and completed it on time. We believe this fellow Tanzanian has represented us well in executing this project, which will significantly help residents access social services more easily,” Engineer Kibasa added.

Residents of the Chumbi area also expressed their gratitude to the government for bringing visible development to their community. They recalled that the road condition was previously poor, hindering the transportation of crops and livestock. With the new road in place, they expect easier travel, enhanced business opportunities, and improved access to essential services such as healthcare and education.
