More parental involvement needed to raise responsible children

DODOMA: PARENTS have been urged to dedicate more time and attention to raising their children, as they play a critical role in shaping their future and moral character.

The call was made recently by Engineer Venance Singo during a Standard Seven graduation ceremony at Ben Carson School, located in Nala on the outskirts of Dodoma City, under the Dodoma City Council.

He said that parents have a vital responsibility to prepare their children not just academically, but also to face life’s challenges.

“How do you prepare your child to be a blessing to society? How do you equip them to deal with life’s realities? Some children are raised in ways that make them feel like servants to others,” Eng Singo said.

He stressed that a child’s future, whether marked by success or a lack of direction, often depends on the guidance they receive from their parents.

He also encouraged parents to choose schools that not only offer academic excellence but are committed to instilling discipline and responsibility.

During the ceremony, Eng Singo also officiated the launch of a new book titled Safari ya Hatma (Journey of Destiny), authored by the school’s manager, Sarah Mahaja.

The book details the school’s founding and growth journey. Speaking at the event, the school’s head teacher, Mr Lucas Adriano, said Ben Carson School currently has 615 pupils, from pre-primary to Standard Seven.

He noted that construction of a secondary school section is underway, which will allow the institution to expand and offer secondary education in the near future.

Mr Adriano also highlighted the school’s commitment to environmental conservation, noting that the school uses clean energy for cooking, which also enhances efficiency in meal preparation.

For her part, Sarah Mahaja said her book, Safari ya Hatma, chronicles the school’s transformation from humble beginnings to its current success and serves as an inspiration for both educators and students.
