RC: Go for five-star hotels, conference tourism
DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner (RC), Rosemary Senyamule has called on the private sector to invest in five-star hotels, saying such developments are essential to unlocking the city’s potential as a major hub for international conferences.
Despite its status as Tanzania’s political capital, Dodoma has yet to host high profile global events, a situation largely attributed to the lack of world-class hospitality infrastructure, including fivestar accommodation.
Speaking over the weekend during a meeting with hotel owners in the region, RC Senyamule said the hospitality sector must grow in step with the government’s strategic investments in infrastructure, including the construction of Msalato International Airport.
“I urge investors to build five-star hotels or upgrade existing facilities to meet international standards. The government has already laid the foundation through massive infrastructure projects to support this vision,” she said. RC Senyamule noted that at least five five-star hotels are needed in Dodoma to enable the city to effectively compete as a regional and international conference destination.

On his part, Dodoma Regional Chairperson of Hotel Owners, Mr Gabriel Mauna, praised recent improvements in basic services that are essential for hotel operations.
“We appreciate the efforts by water and electricity authorities. In our previous meeting, we raised concerns about service interruptions. These challenges have now been addressed, making our work more manageable,” he said.
The consultative meeting is part of a series of stakeholder engagements led by RC Senyamule, aimed at identifying development opportunities and resolving issues affecting key sectors in the region.
