Stars all in for Zambia clash

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’S national football team, Taifa Stars, promise to give everything ahead of Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zambia at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.

Speaking on Saturday as the team gathered at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club grounds, the players expressed confidence and eagerness to face the Chipolopolo.

The team acknowledged Zambia’s football pedigree, recognising the ambition and quality of their opponents, but they are determined to rise to the occasion in front of their home fans.

Midfielder Habibu Idd, shortly after joining the camp, expressed his honour at being part of the national squad and his commitment to give his all for the country.

“I thank the Almighty for this opportunity to represent Tanzania. My goal is to serve my nation with pride,” said Idd.

“We know the game won’t be easy, but we are preparing well to ensure we secure a positive result.”

Idd also urged Tanzanians to rally behind the team, emphasising that their support would be essential in motivating the Stars to victory.

“This is a match we must win. I call upon all Tanzanians to come out, cheer for us and give us the motivation we need,” he added.

Defender Offen Chikola echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of the relationship between players and fans.

“Playing for the national team is a huge honour in my football career and I’m grateful to the coaches, led by Head Coach Hemed Suleiman and the entire technical bench for trusting me,” said Chikola.

He described the call-up as a dream come true.

“It’s something I have always wished for. Every player works hard at the club level, hoping to be recognised and represent their country. This moment means a lot to me,” he stated.

Chikola noted that the squad is fully focused and prepared to implement the tactical instructions from the coaching staff.

“We will be disciplined and ensure we execute what our coaches have prepared us for. Zambia is a strong side with big ambitions, but we believe in ourselves and in our team’s ability to deliver,” he affirmed.
