DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Volleyball Federation has confirmed that preparations are nearing completion for the 26th Mwalimu Julius K Nyerere International Volleyball Tournament, scheduled to be held in Dar es Salaam from October 10th to 14th, 2025.

This renowned annual event continues to attract top volleyball clubs from across East, Central and Southern Africa.

The tournament serves not only as a showcase of elite competition but also as a tribute to the legacy of Tanzania’s founding father, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, by promoting unity, sportsmanship and regional cooperation.

TVF secretary general Laurence Safari assured all participants of a well-organised event, emphasising the federation’s commitment to hospitality and competitive standards.

The tournament will feature both men’s and women’s teams, providing a platform for sporting excellence and cultural exchange.

TVF official Shukuru Ally confirmed in Dar es Salaam yesterday that 14 teams have so far registered to participate, including nine men’s teams and five women’s teams.

From Kenya, the men’s category will feature strong contenders such as Kenya Prisons and Chema Volleyball Club, while the women’s category will include powerhouses like Kenya Pipeline and KCB Volleyball Club.

Zambia will be represented by Falcon Volleyball Club, which has entered both a men’s and a women’s team.

Burundi’s Rukinzo Volleyball Club has also confirmed participation in the men’s competition, alongside APR from Rwanda and Malawi Combine, a team representing Malawi.

Host nation Tanzania will be represented by several teams, including Serengeti, High Voltage and Grace VC in the men’s category, while the women’s competition will feature Tanzanian sides such as Chui Volleyball Club and Star Girls.

“All is in place for a successful tournament. We are excited to welcome teams from across the region and fans can expect thrilling matches and a festive atmosphere,” said Ally.
