CCM pledges to provide free farm inputs to boost cashew production

MTWARA: THE Chama cha Mapinduzi(CCM) presidential running mate, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has pledged that the government will continue to support cashew farmers across the country by providing them with free farming inputs.

Dr. Nchimbi made the remarks while addressing residents of the Nanyamba Town Council, Tandahimba, and Newala in Mtwara Region during a series of campaign rallies ahead of the general election scheduled for October 2025.

“The subsidy for fertilizer and seeds will continue to be provided to cashew farmers, and we will increase both the quantity and quality of the seeds to ensure our farmers get the best fertilizer and improved seeds,” Nchimbi emphasized.

He further added, “The CCM manifesto states that we will continue to improve agriculture in these areas through modern practices, which will increase yields. Agricultural extension officers will also be empowered with more training to enhance their performance.”

In addition, Nchimbi highlighted some of the government’s priorities for the next five years as outlined in the CCM manifesto, including the construction of new wells to support irrigation schemes in the region.

He explained that the goal of these wells is to boost the production of both cash and food crops, enabling farmers to practice modern agriculture and increase yields, which in turn will generate more income for them.

Meanwhile, CCM Mtwara Regional Chairman, Saidi Nyengedi, stated that the nation has honored the southern region, and assured the running mate that CCM will secure enough votes in the upcoming election.
